email sending issues - please help !

I have a couple of issues and I think they could all be related;

We use outlook 2003 for internet mail access (pop account).

All has been fine for a long time… but now:

1. Emails stay in the outbox for a long time, but get sent eventually.
2. My outbox thinks it is sending 1 of 1 messages when there are no messages
to be sent.
3. I get an error after every send and receive….saying either of;

Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0B) : 'Unknown Error 0x800CCC0B' …..

or I get error 0x800ccc13

We did have to change the password at our ISP a few weeks ago, but had no
issues until a few days ago.

So far I have unchecked the anti virus email scanning and de-installed any
add-ins (Salesforce)…and archived old messages from my .pst folders. No joy
as yet.

Any ideas appreciated please?

Make sure you disable any email scanning in your antivirus program.

Possible an undelivered read receipt. See this:

This can also be caused by the mail scanning feature of the antivirus
program. You also want to increase the server timeout value of your account
and possibly the send/receive interval value. Don't check for new mail any
more frequently than about ten minutes. Also, see this:

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried the outlookspy for any read receipts and none were there, so no luck.

I have also disabled scanning outbound email and increased the server
timeout value of my account and the send/receive interval value. My mail
checks now every 10 mins or so.

Stiil the same issue......?

The only other thing I can suggest is to try a new mail profile.

Hi Brian,

Many thanks. Do you mean that I should try adding a new .pst file and
directing all mail there (after backing up the old ones)?

Hi Brian,

That's what I thought you meant, but saw an earlier post recommending the
other way so I was seeking clarification. I guess I should have confimed my
understanding instead of the other way round...adding confusion! - apologies..

I have an update on this, so far...

I exported all .pst files
de-installed all anti virus s/w, then re-installed it again, unchecked scan
outgoing email.
all seems ok.......I'll keep fingers crossed and assume this has done it.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

Never export to a PST. It's unnecessary and loses data. Just copy your
PST(s) to another location with Outlook closed.

Here's hoping.
