Email Problem w/ Windows Mail/Hotmail

I first want to say I KNOW I can't get my email from Hotmail with Windows
Mail. The question I have is that I've used Outlook Express for years and
have always saved my important email from hotmail to the Outlook Express
folders that are generated by my regular email accounts. All I would like to
know if there is a way to save my Hotmail emails to the same folders as I do
inside Windows Mail for the other email addresses. It won't let me
drag-and-drop in from one place to the other. I *know* I could forward it to
the other account but then it would look like a forwarded email, unlike the
way it worked within Outlook Express. I really don't want to change my email
addresses to accommodate Windows Mail. I have had the same Hotmail account
since 1997 and don't want to change it either. Any suggestions out there? ( I
have a vision problem which limits the amount of reading I can do at a time
or I would have spent a lot more time looking into this. I see that there is
a download for something but it sounds like its for using the webmail
version....Windows Live.. and I'd much prefer to use the Windows Mail program
for email.) Thanks, in advance, for any or all the help I can get! Anybody
got a spare cornea they can give me? Having no insurance at the time, I may
have to save up for my transplant. <I have brown eyes...btw...but I think
beggars shouldn't be choosy in this case...BTW.... I will also need a doc to
do the sewing....ummm... any offers?> Other than that....hopefully workers
comp will ---eventually--- operate on my spine so I can sit/stand without too
much pain and go back to work. I guess I'd better leave all my personal
problems out of this ... for now, anyway... Please help!

Windows Live Mail is not webmail. It is a standard POP/IMAP
email client which also happens to handle Hotmail accounts.

Thanks, brink, for your 'suggestion'. I was quite clear that I don't want t
use Hotmail I thought. Maybe I just expected that you would realize ,if I've
not used Hotmail to get my Hotmail, Quite possibly I wouldn't want to use the
renamed Hotmail to get my renamed Hotmail to get my Hotmail. I'm sure glad
you pointed out that I did not make that clear enough and gave me the
opportunity to correct that. Thanks for your help brink.

You seem to be very confused over what Windows Live Mail is.
You don't have to have a Hotmail account to use Windows Live Mail.

I must, first, apologize for missing the fact that there is a 'Windows Mail'
and a 'Windows Live Hotmail' but, in addition a 'Windows Live Mail' as well.
I didn't catch it as being any different than the hotmail change. I had the
magnifier on so I could see it to read it too, yet still missed it.
Okay......I'm getting old...I'll admit it...lol. This doesn't let me off for
rudely responding to you, Shawn. You were doing your best to help me and be
nice, too, and I hardly deserved it since the mistake was mine. Please
forgive me for my ignorance. Thank you for your help. I have yet to download
the program but I'm sure it will solve my problem. I'm just going to look it
over a bit more before I install it....I've got so my duplicate contacts and
emails in the Windows Mail now I need to clean it up first so when I transfer
the mail accounts to the new program, I don't have to muddle through it all
there, too. Thanks, again, for your help, Shawn. I'm sorry I didn't read it
right in the first place.

Hi Caver,

Windows Live Mail Beta (WLM) will allow you to use the same Hotmail
account just like in Windows Mail. It supports Pop3, IMAP, HTTP website
(EX: Hotmail) email, and is a lot more stable. Plus, WLM will minimize
to a tray bar icon and has a separate Inbox for each account. WLM will
automatically import Windows Mail messages, accounts, and settings into
it. Contacts will have to be manually imported from within WLM. (Tools,
Contacts, File, Import, Address book for current Windows User.)

For US and UK: 'http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas'

For non-US and non-UK locations (direct download):

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thank you for the advice about Windows Live. I have some important
Hotmail email addresses that I use for my business and was astounded
when Microsoft prevented me from using Hotmail in the Windows Mail
program that comes with Vista. I could not stand the limitations of
Windows Live Hotmail, so I was desparate for a desktop email client
solution.

Before I read your post, I had never heard of Windows Live (desktop-
based) and was confused by the similar sounding Windows Live Hotmail
(web-based) that I had been using. I needed a desktop program that
can be used offline on airplanes and while not on the Internet.

So far Windows Live (desktop-based) is working very well and I
encourage anyone that needs a desktop based email client to download
it right away. Since it is a beta version, I'm praying that the
program won't do something crazy like lose my emails.

Thanks!
