email problem - client received attachments as inline text.

.. I can send the same files through my Internet based Yahoo account
with no problem. Also, I can receive others' files when they use Outlook
with no problem. When I send to those with AOL accounts, my file
attachments are renamed with a mime extension, but will not open.

Any ideas? I am really frustrated!

Sounds like the issue lies with AOL. AOL users have always been particularly
susceptible to spam, perhaps because they tend (generalisation I know) to
be more naive about the internet. So, AOL have recently put in place very
draconian anti-spam filtering.

I suggest that instead of using attachments, you send in plain text and
include a link to a webpage with the additional information.

I am having a similar problem.

It's best to start your own thread.
I updated my California Associates Security system,

Are you sure it's not Computer Associates? (CA)? CA sells an antivirus
product called "CA Anti-Virus".
and all of a sudden some (but not all) of my email
recipients cannot open my attachments. This includes doc, pdf, xls,
and ppt. They get an Error message that the file was corrupted. I am
using Outlook 2003 and Miscrosoft XP. I have tried zipping the files
to no avail. I can send the same files through my Internet based
Yahoo account with no problem. Also, I can receive others' files when
they use Outlook with no problem. When I send to those with AOL
accounts, my file attachments are renamed with a mime extension, but
will not open.

What happens when you uninstall the AV program?

I have the samew exact problem and it seemed to show up after I upgraded to the latest CA Suite. I saw one post that suggested turnign off Outbound email protection in the Firewall. Does anyone know a concrete solution for this (and I don't mean encase my PC in concrete and sink it ) 8)
