email is staying in outbox and not being sent

Today while sending an email, my system shut down to reboot due to download
of updated software. The email being sent appears to have gone thru, but a
copy of it is in the outbox showing an error. I've tried deleted the email
and it tells me error. No other emails have been allowed out since this
happened.

Update to Vista SP1 and that will fix the issue. You will then be able to
delete the messages.

For undeletable mail, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail
not running:

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Windows or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version
first.
