Is it possible to send a file to a list of people, but have it go to the
first person and let them edit an attached document, then send to the next
and let them edit, and so on. Then back to me when it has gone through
everyone?
 
Yes it is. You will want to do this using File > Send To > Routing Recipient
in Word. I suggest you post your question in the Word newsgroup for help on
this.
