Email field information for .msg file outside of Outlook

I have implemented a mailbox size limit for all users. Users found out that
they could drag their emails to their network drives. These emails are .msg
files, and they only display the subject of the email.

Users now want to be able to view more information, at least the date that
they recieved the emails. When I view the properties of the .msg files I only
see the date that the files were moved instead of the date that they were
received.

Is there any way to get windows to display more information than the subject?

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, then you can enable the Preview
Pane to see the message directly in Explorer with additional info.

What exactly were you trying to achieve by settings a mailbox size limit? My
guess is to control storage usage. Considering they are now saving it
outside of Outlook your storage issue only moved. In fact they are now even
bigger since storing emails in separate msg-files is anything but optimal
and uses more space now than when they were still stored on the Exchange
server.

You might want to reconsider your storage limit to be set to something
higher if the users cannot work with the current limit. Implementing a
server-side archiving system might be handy too if all data should be kept
but not necessarily in the user's mailbox. Have the company set up a proper
mail storage policy with things like how long an email can/must be kept and
where they must be stored. Also note that storage outside of these locations
is prohibited and sweeps will be made.
