Eudora does not depend on IE?, it was written for the MAC before being ported to
the pee cee.

This, of course has nothing to do with the current dependancy state,
however, from the Quick Start Guide;

To install and use Eudora, you must have the following.
.. IBM PC or compatible
.. Microsoft Windows 98/2000/ME/XP or Windows NT 4.0 or above. It is
recommended
that you have the latest service pack for each operating system.
.. A mail account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that uses POP3,
IMAP4, or
SMTP protocols.
.. Access to your mail account via a TCP/IP (Internet) network connection
of via PPP
dial-up networking through a modem.

I know that Pegasus and the various Moz based email apps (Mozilla
mail, TB and Netscape mail) do not depend on IE since I've run them
after using IEradicator and gutting the IE html rendering engine.
Also, I wouldn't expect any text-only email app to be dependent on IE.

IIRC Eudora depends on IE only if you want it to. The last version I used
was 5.1, and it had a setting that let you turn off advanced HTML functions
that use IE. Eudora itself has basic html formatting support built-in,
which I don't believe depends on IE, and is fine for most non-spam HTML
mail.

Eudora has an option Tools -> Viewing Mail -> Use Microsoft's Viewer,
for viewing HTML email which many people advise to turn off. I don't
use the option and only view text in Eudora and prefer to send any
HTML email to a browser that I trust and read it there.

That's nothing to do with IE, its M$ office!!
