Email appears to be storing on desktop

I'm trying to help a person in my company who's email appears to be storing
on her desktop. This person is using Outlook 2000 on Windows XP and has
appranetly created an Outlook folder for storing email from one particular
sender. Her desktop is indeed filled with all these emails. When they're
cleared to the recycle bin, she logs out, logs back in and her desktop is
re-populated with more of the same. The only thing I can think of is that at
some point, she created an archive or folder which is pointing to her desktop
for the location, but I can't determine where to find that. I searched her
PC (including hidden files) for *.pst, but it came up empty. Any ideas or
potential solutions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This could be the action of a mail scanner, like an antivirus program
configured to integrate with Outlook. Have her disable any such scanner.
