Email activation

I have been using outlook express for my email program. i am buying a new
compuer and won't, I am told, be able to use it anymore. I have tried
shifting to Outlook, but when I try to send an email, I get a message that
says something about "No Transport Porvider". I am using Office 2000 and am
on cable with comcast. Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you define any e-mail accounts in Outlook yet? Use the Mail applet
in Control Panel to check. OL2000 is too old for me to remember so I
may not be able to help.

Outlook 2000 has issues on Vista, and probably Win7
Only Outlook 2003 and above is fully compatible

Vista has Windows Mail
Win7 has no mail application
MS Reccommends that you use Windows Live Mail

Does this computer come with Windows 7? In that case you could install
Windows Live Mail on it. It is the replacement of Outlook Express and
Windows Mail from respectively Windows XP and Windows Vista. It has no
issues converting messages from Outlook Express either and I would choose it
over Outlook 2000 any time as Outlook 2000 lacks security features which you
really want today and also because it is no longer supported and does not
work properly on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Or you can use Thunderbird or any other mail program with Windows 7. There
is no requirement to use a Microsoft program for mail.

Of course, but can these all import directly from Outlook Express data
files?
I'd recommended WLM to at least get him/her access to his/her data again and
basically get him/her to a point from before the Windows upgrade.
