Take a look at Switcher CAD, available for free at
http://www.linear.com/software/

Hardly the same as croc-clips, which as you may not know, was a very
simple program more for teaching electronics (bulb symbols that lit
etc, AFAIR). Not the same as true spice where you need to know what
you are doing before you use it.

I've never seen anything similar but I look in the education freeware
categories myself.

You can try the student version of CircuitMaker, but I wouldn't consider this as
freeware.
