ehRecvr Service Won't Start

Hello,

I was just wondering if anybody could help me with this problem? I am trying
to get my Vista Media Center to recognize my TV tuner but I am having
problems starting up this windows service. Everytime I try to start it up, I
always get this message:

"Windows could not start the Windows Media Center Receiver Service on Local
Computer.

Error 0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified."

Now I tried to locate the file in it's directory
C:\Windows\ehome\ehrecvr.exe, and apparently it does exist. So I am getting
really frustrated trying to figure out what is the problem.

If anybody could assist me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you installed anything just prior to this happening? I had the same
problem which I discovered was the installation of 2 old audio editing programs.
Uninstalling the programs did not work. I had to use System Restore to a point
before I had installed the first of these programs to correct the problem with
the Windows Media Center Receiver Service.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your response, however that doesn't seem to have
fixed my problem. I have tried restoring my system to the earliest point but
the problem still persists.

Did the problem start after you installed the TV tuner drivers? If so, are they
Vista specific drivers? What is your TV tuner?

I am not too sure because I only checked the service after I installed the
tuner drivers.

My tuner is the WinTV-HVR-1600 by Hauppauge, and I have their Vista
compatible drivers too.

Hi,

I just recently discovered what seems to be the error log of this problem.

I don't know what it means. Hopefully you can help me.

You need to check the dependencies for that service (go to the Dependencies
tab) - it may be that it can't find the dependent file.
