Editing backgrounds in Master Slide

So I am able to get into the "Edit Master Slide" section and I see where I
can "Format Background" and "Hide Background Images" but I want to know how I
can edit the background image or replace it with a different image. Any help
will be greatly appreciated.

Depending on your version of Powerpoint, it'll be something like:

Click on Format, Background, click the dropdown arrow, click Fill Effects,
Picture, Select Picture

You can't edit images with PowerPoint, you need an image editor for that.

Sorry I should've been more specific. The original presentation was created
in Office 2003 and I am working on it in Office 2007. I know how to do it in
Office XP and Office 2003 but this Office 2007 is baffling me.
As far as editing, I just need to be able to delete an image within my
background but not the entire background. My background currently has 2
images and I'd like to replace one of the 2 images.

Thank you,
Mir Ali
