I am trying to transfer my files from my xp computer to my new vista
computer. The new computer has a 130gb disk, which has been configured to 2
logical disks; c: and d:. The d: disk is used as restore. No room left. I
cannot see how I can make the easy transfer software write to the C drive,
which has lots of room. As it is now, the thing times out after running out
of room on d:. (I would have thought that the software would be smart enough
to select the empty drive)

Any suggestions how to direct the transfer to the proper disk??

What does your source machine configuration look like? If you have a C: and
D: drive on the XP box then the tool assumes the same mapping of the
destination based on the source.

Vik,

Thank you for replying.. yes my xp system has the operating system on the c
drive and the music/pics/data on the larger d drive... I guess there is no
way to change the mapping.. I have other options to do the transfer.

Dennis

Hello Dennis,

Unfortunately, since your drive mappings match each other perfectly (but the
d: drive on your destination is an OEM partition, so you won't get the
option to pick your C: drive on your destination machine as the final
destination.

Cheers!
