earlier downloaded emails do disappear during downloading new message into the inbox of the imap

Downloading new e-mails from the server in the inbox of my imap makes the
other received e-mails disappear. Is there an option to change it in a way
that earlier received e-mails do stay in the inbox without disappearing?

Open the Inbox folder, then look near the upper right corner.
Does it say "Hide Read Messages" or "Show All Messages"?
You want the latter setting for what is known as the 'Current View'.
Each folder saves its current view setting, so check that setting in
every folder.
