E-mail names

My Vista e-mail account only remembers my contacts for a couple days after
which I have to type their whole address. My old outlook program remembered
all my contacts and brought up all my choices after the first letter. Is
there a way I can set it up so it remembers all my contacts forever?

The auto-complete in Windows Mail just doesn't work correctly.
It keeps a separate list of the last 29 addresses you've typed in, including
bad ones. This list is kept in the registry (in binary).

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.

That is known as the auto-complete function.
Windows Mail does not auto-complete from your contacts.
It uses a separate list of the last 29 recipients you've sent mail to.
The auto-complete feature works much better in the replacement
program, Windows Live Mail, which uses the standard contacts list.
You are encouraged to upgrade to the newer WLM program:
