To try and combat the posting problem, I'm disabling the e-mail facilities on the site for up to 24 hours. This means that e-mail notifications etc... will no longer work (although any @pcreview.co.uk address will work as normal).

This is just a test to see if this fixes the slow posting problem - if the problem persists then I will re-enable this feature asap. :thumb:

As I'm currently internetless (apart from a few mins of dial-up access) this problem may continue for another few days, as it is hard to pin down the problem. :wall:

... jolly good Boss

Well I ain't trying to point no fingers, but ...

I just been doing some feedback on the MS Technet forums and guess what ... I had some trouble posting, not all the time, but ... an error would occur but my post would be there anyway.

Wonder if MS are using the same software on their servers.

It must be a coincidence surely? :D

It wouldn't surprise me ;)

Has anyone had posting problems still since I changed this setting?

Again today in posting the stats ... had to 'double post' every one, then could not edit for some time ... :(

... and that can make things even harder to pinpoint for Ian ... it is not happening to everybody at the same time.

Indeed, and it doesn't help with Ian being on dial-up either!:wall:

Yes it does - what seems to be happening is that the post is being sent correctly, but the automatic re-direct to the thread afterwards is stalling for some reason.

It doesn't help Ian that it is intermittent either :wall:

Oh dear, I'd picked a bad time to move - the site seems to be falling to bits. If anyone notices a pattern in the delays, can they let me know as it will help me understand the problem :)

Sometimes it's slow, other times all OK.
Could it be when to many users logging in???

Is the whole site slow (i.e. general reading/browsing) or is it just posting replies/new threads?
