E-Mail Display as:

Hi,

I have just installed Office 2003 which contains Outlook 2003. I have been
an Outlook user since it first arrived on the scene.

I notice that the Contacts form shows an e-mail address field (there are in
fact three e-mail address fields) and then a field tittled "Display as". This
field shows the contacts name (e.g. John Smith) and also the contact's e-mail
address (e.g. (e-mail address removed)).

To me this looks rather untidy. So what is the reason for this long string
(e.g. John Smith ([email protected])?

Is there any way that you can set the default for this field to be only the
Contact's name (e.g. John Smith)

Thanks for all answers.

Untidy is in the eye of the beholder. Many people want to show both the name and email address. You can edit any display name to suit your own preferences (but you can't change the built-in default behavior).

Sue,

You are so right, "untidy is in the eye of the beholder". This Scottish
beholder just does not like clutter.

Thanks for your answer. You have cleared my mind that I cannot change the
default.
