e-mail attachments

i have a friend that forwards emails to me with attachments that i can not
open or save, he uses comp u serve as his ip, i have windows xp. do i need to
do something to recieve mail from him.
 
What are the file extensions of the attachments?

i am not able to find the type of files i cannot open the attachment at all,
however we have a mutual friend that recieves the same emails i cannot open
the attachment when the mutual friend fwds it to me. i am a novice at this
thanks
 
Ask your friend what type of file it is. You may not have the application to
open it with.

Are there any attachments you can open or are you not able to open any?

1.Start Outlook Express.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.

This behavior is by design.

1. What does "i can not open or save" mean?



2.What happens when you try? If you get an error message, please quote it
verbatim.



3. What E-mail program are you using?

4.What types of files are these (what are the extensions--the last three
characters of their filenames, after the dot)?
