E Machine is pretty slow

Hello all.

Got an E Machine that belongs to my folks that's acting real slow. It takes
forever to boot up, and when things finally start happening, they happen
slowly. For example, if you were to right click on the desktop, it takes
about 10 seconds for the window to open. Or, to execute a simple task such as
Hearts, it takes a good 10 seconds as well. I've run all the
spyware/adware/defrag as suggested in other posts. I don't know enough about
the Startup to change that MSconfig, but I did remove some items that weren't
needed. I'm open to other suggestions.

In case it matters, its a 2.2G Intel Celeron, and I'm not sure how much RAM
is installed. I forgot how to check.

FW.

I've already seen this web page, but I will try some of these steps again,
just to make sure I'm thourough. In the meantime, I would love some help
narrowing down what the problem would be.

Thanks

Find out how much RAM the machine has. It could be that you simply need
more. To find out, right click on My Computer/Properties and it will
tell you on the General tab.

Disable the startup apps you dont need to start running 24/7. Add more
ram as E-boxes sell to folks who want to save money by not buying the
proper amount of ram you need for XP, which is 512 or more.
