Start menu is slow to open -- up to 10 seconds sometimes. Other times
it is snappy. What might be happening?

You need to check in Task Manager to see what is running with the cpu cycles
high when that happens. My suggestion would be to open Task Manager switch
to the Processes tab click on the CPU header twice (Decending Usage Sorting)
then try the start button if it takes a while you should be able to see the
CPU cycles jump and know what is causing it to happen. If nothing happens
you may have a hardware issue.
