After replacing my motherboard to a new ASUS P4P800 because of a failure, my
E drive which is a Sony PLextor DVD/CD-RW will not write Microsoft documents
or any other data.

My A: drive works with a diskette. Everything works properly on the computer
ie, media reader drives, the dvd/cd player etc.

When I send the document to the E: drive it says files ready to be written
to CD.
When I try to write these files to CD it goesproperly to " Welcome to CD
writing.

When I click NEXT it says" There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a
wriable CD in to E:\"

There is a new CD-RW in the E drive but it is not being recognized.

Can someone assist me

Try to find the cd rom drive in register.
Open Run/regedit and search the cd rom drive.
then change the register key number. There are 3 options as far as i
remember, like 0, 1, 2 3
They are connected with, detect, read, write etc..
They are find in the registerkey of the hardware ( name of manufacturer) and
is called MMCDetectionState (IDE).
If the key is set to 0 , change to 2 for CD only and i think 3 for both.
Good luck from amsterdam
