Dynamic Disk Help ?

Please could someone help me to resolve the problem I have with my
disk setup. I have 3 dynamic disks which were all working fine until
last night when I upgraded my processor and memory. I have fitted an
XP 2600 with 333 FSB in place of the 266 version. I also replaced my
512MB of PC2700 with PC3200. I should explain that I did not realise
my MB supported the 333 FSB when I bought it. The PC 3200 is purely to
give me some leeway for overclocking. Anyway since changing the memory
and PSU the PC will not boot at all. I can boot from a floppy or CD
but I cannot from the C drive. If I try to restore from a ghost image
on another drive I am not given the option to copy to the C drive at
all. If I try to re-install Windows or I try to repair the existing
installation, I am not given the option to repair at all. I also
cannot get into recovery console so I would welcome some advice please
on what has happened and the remedy. Thanks you in advance everybody.

Is your new CPU and RAM recognized during the P.O.S.T.? Are they shown at
the correct speeds? If not, you will have to make changes in the bios. You
may also have to change some jumpers on the M/B.

I'd follow Rick's advice - are you sure your motherboard supports PC3200, or
if it does, are you sure they are not other settings needing to be
set/changed to accommodate the RAM at that speed?

Hi Richard
I have made changes in the Bios to reflect the 333fsb of the new chip
but the memory I am not sure of. Correct me if I am wrong but can i
not use PC3200 in an MSI KT3 Ultra ARU board. I realise it will run at
the speed of the FSB though won’t it? Would any of this affect the way
the machine booted, your thoughts would be appreciated.

You will, in effect, be under clocking your RAM. It will not hurt the RAM or
the M/B. It just won't allow the system to reach it's full potential. It
should not affect booting.
