DX 8.1 installs after a game install and now DX 9.0b is no longer working

Hi,

I have XPproSP1 which I have all critical, and
recommended, updates installed on, with MP9, and DX9.0b.

I had Microsoft's Rallysport installed, and it was working
great. After a few months, I then installed, Crimson Skies
(also MS) which installed DX 8.1 again, by itself, after
it finished installing the game. I'm not sure if it even
asked. That game works fine, but when I went to play the
rallysport again, the in game voices, and menu movements
were all messed up. I thought it was my video card
drivers, and rolled them back to the previous, but still
the same thing after reboot. I then went into DXDIAG, and
tried the Direct Draw tests, which showed all three, but
the white square in the black box was way faster, and not
even clear like it was, during the Direct X tests, the
cubes were spinning so fast, the logos were not even
visible, it was like a high speed, tornado, instead of a
fast spinng cube, that has readable text on it.

It shows DX 9.0b, and no conflicts in all tabs of the
DXDIAG box.

Help would be appreciated, as I even tried downloading the
DX9.0b, from the MS website, and the redistrib, to no
effect.

Is there any way to clean out the Registry, and re-install?

I've had exactly the same problem today - no idea how to fix it yet. The
only problem this seems to have caused is, the fast tests and slight
graphics corruption and performance degradation on FIFA2004 demo.

Just fixed the DX problem - for some reason Vsync had totally turned itself
off in the advanced driver section.

Look on the internet, at this site, download, the file( I
scanned mine for viruses, first, was clean)

the DX eradicatorbeta, removes all DX files, then upon
reboot, have a copy of DX 8.1 to install, and you will be
fine!!!
