DWT Problems by editing on the web serves

Gio

I'm testing Frontpage 2003 and DWTs.

If I open a web site ON DISK then all works right, even
opening a site on a web server (using FrontPages extensions
2002) then when I save the DWT Frontpage does not ask to
update all pages using that template.
On the support there was no KB about this.

Also I installed the Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0
(which are in place of FrontPage Extensions) and all works
right.

Now the matter is: Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 is almost
"heavy". It places web pages in SQL Server databases.
Is this a bug or we need WSS to use this greit feature?

Thanks
Gio

The auto update feature of the DWT is not supported under the FP extensions,
you must either work with a disk-based web or Windows 2003 Server with WSS
running.

PS
Or open all your page using the DWT to update them under the FP SE (painful)

The auto update feature of the DWT is not supported under the FP extensions,
you must either work with a disk-based web or Windows 2003 Server with WSS
running.

Thanks for you reply but the matter is: why WSS places web pages into
sql server databases? I think it's really heavy and slow.

I tested WSS2.0 and i found it really good, but it allows a lot of unuseful
things if I need only to edit webpages on the web server...

I don't know what MS wants to get about not publishing FPSE2003.

Thanks
Gio

Then don't use WSS, use features and function that use the FP2002 extensions
instead.
