Updating DWT-attached page

Guest

Hi.

I have a site with a *.dwt file.
All the web pages in the site are based on the dwt file.
When I update the dwt file, either I have to update the pages individually
(open the pages, go to Formats, Dynamic Web Template, Update Selected Page
and repeat for each page),
or I have to open all the pages so that FrontPage will update them for me.

There must be a smarter way to doing this, right?
If there is, please show me ... thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question but...

I do know your site is really cool...it's refreshing to see a unique design for a change! Photos are great too. Love it!

The auto updating of a DWT under the FP extensions is not supported, must be done locally on a disk
based web or under a Windows SharePoint Service site.

Changes to editable regions will not be propagated to child pages - you do
know that, right? I suspect that this is the case, since you are saying you
have to update the pages individually.

The DWT will only update all pages (without them being open) in
disc-based or Windows SharePoint Services webs.
The FP extensions on a server based web do not have any code that
deals with DWTs, whereas WSS and disc based webs do.

That means I will have to use the low-tech way I am using, right?
Thanks for replying, guys.

No, you could always publish the web to a disk-based location and make your changes, then republish
to the live/remove site that has the extensions.
