DVDs will not play

Carasi

I am getting this error message when I try to play a DVD
with WMP 9

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a
problem occurred with digital copyright protection".

I downloaded a free trial of Sonic Cine player and it
plays fine, but I don't want to spend any $ when the
trial is over.

Can any one help?

Thanks

This freeware DVD player works fine for me. You might want to give it a
try.

I had a simialr message when playinga DVD using
DirectDVD. I got Copyright error #29. I called Orion
Systems and they tried to get me to buy a new Hard Drive.
The DVD becomes Region Locked after 4 or so installs on
newer DVD players. This is done on a chip in the DVD
player. It counts down and once it reaches zero, it will
only allow the last region to be played on the computer in
theory. Mine locked to a region i never used. To fix
this, you can use a program like PowerDVD which worked
when mine was region-locked, or you can get a program like
DVD Region-Free which sets the region code to 0 so it will
play all regions. The thing I like about this one is it
does not flash the firmware, it just overrides it with
specific programs. It worked for me. They have a free
demo version you can try and see if it fixes your problem,
but the full version was like $38.00.
