DVD's stopped working

I am running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2. I recently tried to look at a DVD I got, and it came up saying that I was missing itidat.dll. I downloaded an encoder, but it did nothing to help. DVD's used to play on the machine, but now even they won't come up. HELLLLLLLLLLP!!!
