DVD's not loading!!

Hi,
I have vista ultimate which I installed with some problems over xp five
months ago.
I recently received a DVD for a furniture company which would not load and
thought- - ok its a dud or something. Now today I tried to load a game that
I already ran on xp no problems and it does the same as the other DVD I
mentioned- - just a couple of "beeps" from the DVD drive and nothing. It
does not show up in explore either! Maybe I am missing something but I've
googled and not found anything relevant. The drive is a Plextor DVDR
PX-760A.
Maybe the drivers? but any ideas welcome. tia.

Hi, Thanks for advice. I tried the first step deleting "upper filters" but
there were no "lower filters" to delete. Unfortunately I still have the no
load problem. DVD writer shows in device manager and shows no problems!!

Hi,

If it's now showing in DM as installed correctly and functioning, you may
need to either clean the drive with a lens cleaner disk, or the drive itself
may have gone bad (this happens you know).

Well I've tried cleaning the DVD but I also found that my vista ultimate
disc is now no longer functioning!! Strange though that some other DVD/cd
work ok. The drive is just 9 months old. Maybe I should query with plextor
even their driver disc wont load!

Well I tried a lense cleaner and guess what!! Its working fine now.
Amazing how something so basic can screw with your mind :-/
