DVD not recognised

P

Pete Harris

When I insert a DVD into my D: the drive does not seem to recognise it id
there. In "My Computer" I double click the D: icon and the window that opens
has no files which is exactly the same as if there is no disk in the drive.
CD's are fine - they open Windows Media Player and if I then close the player
and double click the D: icon the new windo displays all the tracks ok.

I have tried usung the troubleshooter on the drive bt am unsure of the
decoder situation. At no time do I receive any error messages.

THe drive is a PLEXTOR DVDR PX-712A

If you cannot get any DVD recognized, you might want to replace the drive; a
DVD drive has two lasers, one to read CDs and another to read DVDs. The DVD
laser might have died.
