I have a BTC DVDRW 1004IM drive that now cannot read any form of DVD. I
successfully burned some DVD+R disks, both with Pinnacle Studio8 and
Nero5.5. Then when I tried to burn a DVD-R, firstly Studio8 completed after
just 30 seconds leaving an unreadable disk. Tried with Nero which quickly
reported "Power Calibration Error".
Immediately after this, the drive started behaving more erratically. I tried
burning a DVD+RW disk ; Nero reported "Illegal Disk", after which point I
was also unable to view DVD movies via PowerDVD. Using XP Home SP1.
Had resigned myself to the hardware developing a fault, until reading of
numerous similar problems on this forum.
