DVDRW partial failure

Hi all, I was trying to burn with Nero when I got the message "incorrect
registry settings, your drive may not be recognised - click and reboot to
fix". I did so and although my DVD/CDRW is okay, the DVDRW only recognised
CDs. I Have tried restore with no effect. I uninstalled the driver. When I
rebooted the problem was still there. I may have lost a laser but before I
buy another one I want to be certain that it is not a software problem. Is
there anything in the registry that could have been changed, and can I fix
it. Thank you

I would try another program besides nero. I hear that it's not that
reliable. I used to use
Nero and had problems with it. I then switched to another software
program
and everything works just fine.
