DVD writer dont identifying CDs

My DVd writer reads and burns DVD but it doenst identify CD's, I restored to
an old restoration point, reinstalled the driver and updated the firmware.
Plz help, thanks.

Different lasers for DVD and CD. I suggest the CD one is either very dirty
or has died.
