DVD screen capture?

Why doesn't it work to PRINT SCREEN and paste the image into
Irfanview and save it as a .jpg? It saves but the image when you
retrieve it is just the green PAUSE text that was on the image you
pasted in, and black otherwise.

Also it doesn't crop correctly when you try to edit it.

Is this DRM or just some uncoded path in retrieving the image from
a video card or wherever it goes?

On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk.

You cannot take some of movies' screenshot like some 3D games' frames.
You have to use a special player like Bsplayer to capture a frame.

Many DVD player programs have an option to do a screen capture. If
yours does not, you can go to Control panel / Display / Advanced /
Troubleshoot / and set Hardware acceleration to none. This should
allow you to use the Print Screen function to capture a frame on your
DVD player. Once you are done getting the images you want, be sure to
turn the acceleration back to its original setting.

Great, thanks! That works. [... Settings / Advanced / Troubleshoot ]

Vastly improves my captures over taking a picture of the picture.

Oops! I forgot the "Settings". Glad you found it, and glad it works.
