Hello I have a NEC DVD+ RW ND-3530A, and Windows XP SP2, recently I
have had a problem with the drive, when I attempt to make a DVD about
85% of the time it fails and gives an error stating that the disk can
not be written to. However when I attempt to burn a CD there is never a
problem. As stated previously I've never had a problem burning
DVD's, about 4 months ago I bought Verbatim DVD-R I was able to use
about 3 or 4 of them without any problem but the rest have been bad
about 85% of the time. This is the first time I have used Verbatim
disks and have used Sony, TDK and Memorex without any problem, my
question thus is does my DVD RW simply not like Verbatim or is there a
problem with the drive?

Possible the DVD laser has gone caput? Last I remember, there were 2 sets
of lasers, each set contains a read laser and write laser in a CD/DVD-RW,
one set handles CDs the other DVDs - so it is possible for one to quit
working while the other works just fine.

The Drive can read and Burn CD's and can Read DVD's is it possiable for
the Burn DVD laser only to go out?

Sorry "bump" has no meaning in a newsgroup, and since you neglected to
quote any of the previous message, there is no reference to the problem.
