DVD+RW not reading blank DVD-RWs

I have a problem as u might have guessed. My Sony DVD+RW (DW-U14A) will not
read blank DVD-Rs. This is since 2day I have had my PC a year and this only
happens now I was trying to burn a DVD wen nero froze so I shutdown the pc
the dvd drive then stopped burning. But when I restarted the PC I went into
my computer and there was no response from the drive went into nero and the
drive constantly says "waiting to become ready" after which says
"initialization has failed could be due to a faulty disc" I cannot tell if
this is Windows not seeing the disc or its the drive. I have a belief it isnt
the drive as I downloaded the firmware and it said can't install a dvd\cd may
be present in the drive removed it, and it installed so somehow it recognised
there was a DVD-rw in there windows just wont recognise it. Another problem
is although I found the firmware upgrade the driver is near impossible to
find I have searched all over the net. The writer does read DVD-RW discs as I
used 1 b4 the problem arose.
Any help is appreciated

You have a hardware problem that is best answered by the computer or DVD
burner manufacturer. It has nothing to do with Windows.
