Ok yesterday i was working on transcoding some video files so i could
put them on a dvd and Somthing hapend, i opened my comp and both my
cd/dvd drives were gone after a few minuties of searching i found a fix
this was soposably caused from uninstalling roxi easy cd creator this
was odd because i dont even have that on this computer i thought
nothing of it, and did the fix. Well the drives came back, in explorer
but they both say cd-rom when one is a DL dvd+rw/cd-rw . and now none
of my burning software will find the burner drive.

the drive is a lite-on sohw 832s
im running xp home sp2 on AMD athlon XP

thx in advance

I use one burning app, Nero, more than one burning app in my opinion can
cause instability and or the optical drive(s) to disappear or malfunction..
I don't use the DVD decrypter app for burning/writing to CD/DVD just for
ISO's on the HD..
Have you updated Sonic..?

Disabled the inbuilt XP CD Wiz..? In the drives properties, recording tab,
uncheck cd recording on this drive box.. In the run box type services.msc and
set the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service to manual or disable it..

Check your drive with the free Nero infotool and save all the info to a txt
file on the desktop and review it, post the info you want, or not, your
call.. Keep in mind it may not all fit in the post, leave out the driver info
and it will fit..
