My DVD-Writer/CD-Writer will not burn on CD-R or CD-RW anymore

I have a Pavilion Desktop PC with WinXP Home SP2 which has worked excellent
since i purchased it in Feb. 2006. Now, it sucks. I have been able to burn
music cd's on my disk drive since day one and now it will only let me burn
dvd's. I have tried everything in the help and support manual and even
contacted hp support. I would like to know if anyone has experienced this
problem and if anyone knows how to fix it. My disk drive used to say " LITE
ON DVD CD RW SOHW 1633S", now it reads "LITE ON DVD RW SOHW 1633S". I am just
totally confused and frustrated. HELP!!

LITEONIT always have a firmware update for thier equitment,go to google.com
type:liteonit In results, look for firmware downloads on the 1st results
page.
Also, you might open device mgr, expand the tree for the dvdrw,R.click on the
hardware listed,select uninstall,do not restart pc,close out,turn off
pc,unplug
power.Move the dvdrw to another connection on other IDE cable (set jumper
pins accordingly on dvd + other connected hardware),then start xp,xp will
reinstall it on restart....Oh yea, make sure you download from liteonit

I would head over to hp.com; click on home and home office; support
adn troubleshooting.

Enter your model number on the screen and then do an online chat.

My brother had both of his CD/DVD's to the point where they wouldn't
even play CDs and they had a fix for it.
