I recently upgraded from Win 98 2nd Ed to Win XP. (Yes I know it's a little
late!) My machine has a TORiSAN DVD-ROM DRD-U424. It has stopped playing DVDs
but will still play audio CDs. In Windows Explorer, under My Computer, it is
listed as CD Drive (D, as though it is being recognized as a CD rather than
a DVD drive. When I right click on the drive, select properties and then
hardware, it lists 3 possible drives: the main hard drive, the floppy drive
and a correct listing for the TORiSAN DVD-ROM. I highlight the DVD-ROM drive,
and select OK. It has no effect. Drive D is still lised as a CD Drive and
will not recognize a DVD. If I put a DVD in the drive and then select drive D
from windows explorer, I get a message to insert a disk into the drive. I
checked for a new driver, but a more recent driver could not be found.
