DVD Rom and DVDRW Don't Work

I've just upgraded to Vista after the upgrade advisor said I would be ok, but
now neither my DVD Rom or my DVD RW work. They appear in computer and when I
insert a disc, the icon changes to the correct type but if I try to read the
disc, it tells me to insert a disc.

My drives are:

HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA-416B ATA Device
Philips DROM 6216 ATA Device

My ATA/ATAPI Controllers are:
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 1
Intel(R) 82801FB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2651

My computer is:
ACPI x86 based PC

Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

HI JJFGB,

I had a similar problem, and found that there were drivers from other
programs (specifically Pinnacle Instant Disk) that were messing up the
drives. Explorer crashed everytime I tried to watch any video off a disk.

Find out which drivers are loaded for the drive by going to control
panel/system, then finding the drives, then clicking on drivers. It should
tell you which companies made each of the drivers. Uninstall all
non-microsoft programs (don't just delete the drivers!) in turn, and see if
any of those are causing a problem.

Hope that helps.

Waistcoat.
