Windows XP DVD recording software

Hi
Can someone suggest me a free CD/DVD recording software which can locate and tell me errors such as long file name(>80 characters) or long path lenth to a file(>8 paths) ,before actually writing to disc and donot hang in the middle of recording process and damage my DVD , as Ahead Nero do, but its not free.
