dkb

I have some TV recordings of some serials on a DVD. The DVD was given to
me by a friend. I wanted to make a copy of the DVD. I have never copied/
made a DVD before. I have a dual layer DVD Burner SONY make and I have
also a DVD-ROM a CD writer DVD Combo). Nero software came with the
purchase of DVD burner.

When I tried to copy from DVD rom to DVD burner, I am getting the
following : "Not enough space to copy this disc. Free space is 0MB. Size
of the image file is 7576MB".
The media I am using "muserbare"-Pro DVD+R 16X/4.7GB
What is to be done to copy please? Please guide.

Sounds like you are copying a dual layer DVD
and you have a Dual Layer burner but you do not
have a dual layer DVD blank.

Today I returned the blank DVD and purchased a Dual layer piece DVD
+RDL 8.5GB but I am getting the same message ---- not enough space to
copy this disk. "Size of the image file is 7576MB"

I tried copying another DVD and I got the following:"Not enough space to
copy this disc. Free space is 0MB. Size of image image file is 5762MB".
I do not understand this when the Dual Layer blank DVD is capable of
taking 8.5 GB.

It sounds like your computer does not think that your writer is a
writer.

Maybe you could get some answers from
the support site of your DVD burner's mfg.

Also it might be worth doing a Google search
for DVD Copying software.

I am sorry to say that there is no mention of Sony DVD Burner (SONY DVD
RW DRU-810A) at the sony site. Also I tried to search 'DVD Copying
software' and in fact downloaded 1ClickDVDCopy5 software on trial basis.
After download I tried to copy the DVD.

I got the following: "Working Folder C:\Dopcuments and
settings\name\application Data\1 clickDVD copy\xxxx\VIDEO does not have
enough free space left"----cannot figure out from this the problem.

Thanks John. I have just sent my problem to Sony through the above link.
I am also surfing google as suggested by you earlier and I feel I am
near solving the problem. I shall report to this news group with my
experience on this after I am convinced about the solution.
You are an asset in this group. Thanks again.

After you said do a google search for DVD Copying software, I came
across a program "1clickDVDCopy5". After download I installed it.
Although this is a shareware costing about USD60 but the free trial is
there to copy 3 DVD's (though I was lucky to copy only two).

Initially this also gave me a message but the message was clearer than
the message I used to get from Nero 6.

The message from "1clickDVDCopy5" red as under:
Working folder "C:\Documents and Settings\veshno\ApplicvationData\Click
DVD copy\MAHABHARAT16(the video I wanted to copy)\VIDEO_TS" does not
have enough space left.

My C drive has only 3.74 GB left now. So I changed the working folder to
another partition the G-drive which has still 18.GB unused. This solved
the problem. To add here I copied the second DVD having less than 3 GB
content and this "1clickDVDCopy5" gave me no problems even though the
blank DVD this time was not a dual layer.

Nero was giving me the message "Not enough space to copy this disc. Free
space is 0MB. Size of the Image file is 5762MB". I am a tomfool and did
not understand this and was thus confused.

To check whether Nero would work, I purchased one more dual layer blank
DVD (8.5 GB) and copied another DVD to this blank DVD after the
following changes in the settings in Nero:
Path for Cache I changed from C-Drive to G:\temp\ and after that
copying went smooth.

Thanks for the update.

I'm glad you found a solution. The original
dialog was "not enough space" but we were
focusing on the DVD instead of your hard
drive. Looks like we all learned something.

Sounds like you need a larger hard drive )
