DVD RAM DRIVE

when i was using wndows 98 i could tranfere files and programs to my dvd ram
drive just by moving it over with my mouse. NOW i am running XP Servivce Pack
3 Home Edition when i want transfere files or programs the CD Wizard takes
over and will not carry out the tranfere as it can only transfer to CD what
must do to correct this.

Install the same burner software as you used with W98. Burning to a CD
isn't a WinXP function; MS supplies the CD Wizard, but it's up to you if
you to purchase other software, if you want a seamless transfer to CD.

Slect properties of your DVD drive and uncheck 'Allow recording on this
drive'. Your drive will now work the way you expect. The 'Allow recording
....' option refers to the writing of CD discs and the drag and drop
interface gets hijacked by that utility.

Only problem with that advice is that you obviously didn't read the OP.
Nowhere did the OP say he was trying to write to a CD.

Windows XP does not need any burning software whatsoever to write to DVD-RAM
as it supports the function natively.

Also, the OP never mentioned the type of DVD media used. They might
have a DVD RAM drive but they need to use DVD-RAM media disks.
