DVD Player Recommendation

J

James Colbert

Can someone recommend a DVD player (aside from MCE or Media Player) that's
Vista compatible? I'm not all that impressed with WinDVD or Power DVD.

Thanks,
James

The two you mentioned are among the best available.

What are you actually looking for, something FREE?

John:

It does look like a very adequate app.
However, I get a "DVD: Copy Protect Error" message, and then the movie does
not play.
How old is the DVD player that you are using? My thought is that the newer
DVD drives may have features that "cooperate" with DRM in Vista, and if that
cooperation fails...

Note that WinDVD in Vista and PowerDVD in XP work fine on the same DVD
drive.

The DVD drive is probably about 2 years old. I have Power DVD on XP86 but
rarely boot there to use it. No movie I have played has had a problem, but I
don't watch many either.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've used WinDVD for years, but dislike the
latest version.

Thanks!

No. I prefer high quality and featurews and am willing to pay for it, even
if it's somewhat expensive, as long as it meets my needs and is a quality
product.

Why don't you also post the question to
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_video and see if the
afficianados there have strong preferences?

Good idea. So far, Media Center works the best here.
