DVD Player Problem

I'm running a P4 1.6Ghz with 512 MB SD RAM, 120GB HDD, a 16MB ATI RAGE 128
PRO II, 4X AGP Graphics Card and an LG GCC-4120B CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive, 12X
Write, 8X RW, 32X Read and 8X DVD Read, and I use CyberLink PowerDVD XP v4.0
to play my DVDs..

Alright, I have a real big problem.. Almost every DVD (about 4 out of 5)
that I play only runs for about 30 mins to an hour, then starts to jolt and
skip, and become totally unwatchable, even after I shut my system down and
reboot..

All my DVDs are official copies and are in perfect condition, as a matter of
fact, most of them are only two days old.. They all run perfectly in two of
my friends' PC DVD players and in all home entertainment DVD players I've
tried..

I'm thinking it may be a lens problem.. I used to be able to watch movies
without any troubles at all, but with all the DVD speed and technology
advancements, I think I could be out-dated =[.. Most movies these days are
duel layered, where the old ones without many special features, languages
and audio selections are single layer..

E.g. - I was playing my Matrix: Reloaded Disk Two, Bonus Features Disk
without any problems, right through the whole disk.. When I took the DVD out
and compared the two, I noticed that it didn't have a "Duel Layer" logo on
it.. While the movie on Disk One, that freezes and screws up, does have the
logo..

Can someone please help me out? Would any type of driver upgrade or patch or
software upgrade work?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Thankyou - E.k

Hi,

As you have mentioned that you can play the DVD for about 30 minutes, I would think for the heat problem on the vedio card.
Try cleaning the heatsink/GPU fan on the vedio card with a can of compressed air and make sure that
there is adequate air circulation inside the chassis.
BTW, I would recommend you to upgrade the vedio card as a 16M ATI Rage 128 is really out dated.
