DVD not working

Dvd was working fine for years (PC friendly or
interactual or winDVD), now none of them work. I have
been updating windows lately and installed the current
Direct x 9.0. I also tried uninstalling WinDVD and
reinstalling it but it didn't work. Getting the error
message "cannot render video. Please check your graphic
drivers and ensure they support the latest version of
direct x." How do I do this and how do I fix it? Any
help would be appreciated.

sounds like your video card/drivers do not support Directx 9 (if it is older
than 1yr that would be the problem)

DX Extractor (removes DirectX 9.x from all versions of
Windows) -

I would use it to remove DirectX 9.0 and then reinstall
the version you had before - probably DirectX 8.x.

I would also download and install the latest driver file
for XP for the video card from its manufacturer's site -
after you have rectified the position with DirectX.
