DVD not reading

I have a Samsung CDWR/DVD SN-308B running on a Dell
Inspiron 8100. The drive works fine for everything
except DVD's. It was working fine a month or so ago but
now will not recognise a DVD format disc. I get message
saying 'insert disc into drive'.

I have run diagnostics, it says it's working fine.

I have all the latest drivers, windows updates etc.

Does anyone know if anything will prevent my DVD drive
from reading? Any potential conflicts?

Any advice gladly received.

Reinstall your DVD software - PowerDVD, WinDVD whichever came with the PC.
