DVD Drives disabled - error code 37

M

Michael Mauzey

I got this from Microsoft's Error Code page:

Error Code 37
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code
37)The driver returned failure from its DriverEntry routine. Uninstall
the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or
upgrade the driver.
On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to
start the troubleshooting wizard.

Both DVDs drives suddenly stopped working.
My computer does not recognise them at all.
Hardware Manager shows them with ! and reports unable to initialise
drivers
error code 37.
Anyone any ideas what's causing the problem and how to correct it?
Anyone know what error code 37 is, and where to find an explanation of
error
codes?

Save the file below to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and
double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is
done. You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Please fix your calendar you are posting from the future - by TWO MONTHS!
This is incredibly rude and selfish. How would you like it if someone pushed
in front of you in the supermarket because they thought they were more
important than you?! Well that's what you're doing! There are several
reasons why this is frowned upon (other than the fact it's extremely rude)

1) You won't be assisted (you only were this time, I think, because no
one noticed the month) because no one likes rudeness.

2) MS will remove posts dated that far in the future

3) Most ISPs will remove post-dated posts as it's a tactic used by
spammers.

4) You will be killfiled by many as they don't want to see your post
sitting on top of the list for the next couple of months.

Please adjust your calendar and join the rest the planet.

An auxiliary driver, probably related to CD burning software has gone
AWOL and left a reference in the registry., When boot finds that it
cannot load all drivers for the device it leaves it out - and maybe you
get this message, maybe it just does not show at all. To tidy up, get a
registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.

Maybe, but did they? It's possible that someone accidently set their clock
wrong, but usually, that results in being far off - including the years.
And, usually, sometime far in the past. Not, convienently in the future.

In that case, easy to simply set your clock right and reask the question -
copy/paste works well.

In any case, it is the user responsibility to follow the newsgroup
etiquette.

G'Day Miss Perspicacia Tick,

What a Sucking pain in the arFe you are.

I am totally underwhelmed by the exuberance of
such verbose and rude pomposity.

You need someone to Pick a STrick in your ear to
Suck some Fense into you!

I'd offer to do the job myself, but I am somewhat
particular where I Dick my STick.

Probably a 'filter' (a sort of driver) has gone AWOL. If the system
cannot find it at boot, from the entry left orphaned in the registry,
this happens, to all similar devices. To tidy up, get a registry patch
file, cdgone.reg, from www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it,
r-click on it and merge it into the registry. Reboot

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you use.
