dvd drive wont play dvds

hey all i have an LG cd/dvd drive(16*dvd)(48*24*48),with Power dvd 4.0
software. it will play all audio cds, software disks ect, but when i insert
a dvd it wont recognise that there is a disk in drive 'D". i have tried all
the trouble shooting options, reinstalled the drivers, and contacted the
provider. can anyone help. cheeeeeeeeeers.

have you tried windows update to see if it will get you a
codec.
