DVD drive question

Got a second internal DVD drive but this one has a volume control, audio
cable, etc.
Should I return it to the store for one without the volume control?

Hello,

It doesn't matter if you're not using it and you don't connect the
audio cable to the board. It will operate just the same. But, if
you're not going to use these controls, but just your Windows
controls, then sure, get it replaced.
