dvd/cdrom drive problems

The dvd/cd-rw drive on my laptop will only read burned cds, vcds...it's
strange, but it won't read dvds or regular audio cd's. This has never
happened before. I've checked the device manager and it says there is nothing
wrong with the disk drive. Any ideas?
 
I have similar problem.
My CD-Writer drive won't burn any CD-Rs except CD-RWs.
But it reads both types just fine.

Probably a hardware issue. Weird...
So much for digital one-zero-one.
